Advanced Automotive Key Programming & OEM Security Technology
Modern vehicles require more than a key-cutting machine. Atomic Lock & Key combines professional locksmith equipment with manufacturer-level diagnostic and programming resources for supported automotive security systems.
Based in Kennewick, Washington, we provide mobile automotive locksmith services throughout Richland, Pasco and the surrounding Tri-Cities. Our focus includes newer vehicles, push-to-start smart keys, transponder programming, and complex all-keys-lost situations.
Why Newer Car Keys Can Be Difficult to Program
Modern vehicle keys communicate with immobilizers, body control modules, and other security systems. Some vehicles require authorized manufacturer software or special security procedures before a new key can be accepted.
Conventional aftermarket programming equipment handles many vehicles, but some newer platforms require additional OEM diagnostic tools, software subscriptions, or manufacturer security access.
Atomic Lock & Key invests in these resources to expand the range of vehicle key problems we can evaluate and service independently.
Manufacturer Platforms We've Worked With
Our technician has performed hands-on work using OEM programming resources within the following manufacturer families. Exact vehicle support depends on model, year, security system, key availability, and the requested programming procedure.
GM: Chevrolet, GMC, Buick & Cadillac
GM Techline Connect, SPS2, and genuine GM MDI 2 communication equipment.
We evaluate modern GM key replacement, proximity fob programming, immobilizer security procedures, and all-keys-lost situations.
Common inquiries include Silverado, Sierra, Equinox, Tahoe, and other GM vehicles. Coverage must be verified individually, especially on newer Global B systems.
Ford & Lincoln
Ford FDRS and manufacturer-level diagnostic resources for supported Ford vehicle systems.
Services may include transponder keys, remote-head keys, smart keys, and supported PATS immobilizer programming.
Common inquiries include F-150, Maverick, Explorer, Escape, and newer Ford key systems. Exact programming support varies by vehicle.
Toyota & Lexus
Toyota TIS and Techstream / Global Techstream+ resources for supported security and diagnostic operations.
We evaluate Toyota and Lexus smart-key registration, additional key programming, immobilizer resets, and all-keys-lost requests.
Common inquiries include Camry, Corolla, RAV4, Tacoma, Highlander, and Lexus push-to-start vehicles. Not every security procedure is available for every model.
Hyundai
Hyundai OEM diagnostic and programming resources for supported immobilizer and smart-key systems.
We evaluate replacement transponder keys, proximity fobs, key registration, and vehicle security issues.
Common inquiries include Tucson, Santa Fe, Sonata, Elantra, Palisade, and Kona. Security authorization and model-specific support must be confirmed.
Expanding Our OEM Capabilities
Automotive security technology changes constantly. Atomic Lock & Key is continuing to develop additional manufacturer-level diagnostic and key programming capabilities.
Our next areas of OEM equipment development include Nissan and Infiniti using the CONSULT ecosystem, and Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and RAM using Stellantis wiTECH resources.
These are planned OEM capability expansions, not a claim that all advanced security procedures for these manufacturers are currently available. Existing locksmith services for these vehicles may still be available following compatibility verification.
Newer Vehicle Key Programming FAQs
Can an independent locksmith program a newer vehicle key?
Yes, for many vehicles. Some modern keys require manufacturer software, security authorization, or specialized equipment. Availability depends on the vehicle and procedure.
Can you make a key when all vehicle keys are lost?
Many all-keys-lost situations can be serviced by a mobile automotive locksmith. However, newer security systems may impose additional requirements or restrictions. We check feasibility before committing to the job.
Do I need to tow my car to the dealership?
Not necessarily. For supported vehicles, mobile key cutting and programming may be possible at the vehicle's location. Some procedures still require dealer involvement or other specialized service.
Can you program a 2024, 2025, or newer smart key?
We evaluate newer-model smart-key requests individually. Vehicle year alone does not establish compatibility. The exact make, model, ignition type, security system, and key situation determine available options.
Do you use genuine OEM keys?
We can evaluate OEM and compatible aftermarket key options depending on the vehicle, part availability, and security requirements. Some systems require specific genuine components.
